Obituary for Mona Mary Cosgrove

Cosgrove, Mona died at home on Monday, December 2, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born September 27, 1921 in Farley, Iowa, the daughter of William and Annie (Horsfield) Greenwood. She attended the University of Dubuque and taught in a one-room country school prior to working at Davenport Bank & Trust and at John Deere and Co. Mona was married to John Doyle Cosgrove on September 4, 1948 and they celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2013. A full-time homemaker, Mona was a member of Guardian Angels Church for over 50 years. She was an avid gardener, and enjoyed decorating and reading. Her life was devoted to her family. She was a firm believer in education, and was very proud that all her children graduated from college. Mona is survived by her loving husband, John; their six children, Anne Clarke, Dublin, Ohio; Mary Buelow, Cincinnati; Nancy Cody, Hudson, Ohio; Jack of Keller, Texas; Joseph of Columbus, Ohio; and Julie (Douglas) Kammerer, Cincinnati; grandchildren Thomas (Julie) Clarke, Amy (Tyler) Stieg, Jeffrey Buelow, Matthew (Charlotte) Buelow, Brian Buelow, Benjamin Buelow, Phillip Cody, William Kammerer, Joseph Kammerer, and Ellen Kammerer; great-grandchildren Sean Clarke, Natalie Clarke, Aidan Clarke and Riley Stieg; she is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marion Greenwood, Sheila (Barry) Kautz and Phyllis Salzarulo and many nieces and nephews. Mona was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Doyle and Helen Toohey, and her brothers Glen, Eldon, Loras and Tom Greenwood. Mass of Christian Burial for Mona G. Cosgrove, 92, of Anderson Township will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Guardian Angels Church, Cincinnati. Burial will follow at Guardian Angels Cemetery, Cincinnati. Visitation will be held immediately preceding the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Gathering Space at Guardian Angels Church. Memorials may be made to the College of Mount St. Joseph, 5701 Delhi Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45233 or to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati (DSAGC) at 644 Linn Street, Suite 1128, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
